Während des Rundgangs im Juli 2020 organisierten sich Studierende der UdK, um Rassismus in der Universität zu thematisieren, und den (mangelnden) Umgang der Institution damit zu kritisieren. Banner mit Fragen zur Zugänglichkeit und Exklusivität der Kunstuni wurden auf der Fassade entrollt, auf Postern wurden Erfahrungsberichte von Rassismus Betroffener zirkuliert.
Die Kampagne wandte sich in einem offenen Brief an die Öffentlichkeit und eine große Koalition studentischer Gruppen formulierte Forderungen an die Universität. Diese sind bis heute aktuell.

We are angry and hopeful.
For Rundgang in July 2020, students of UdK organised themselves to address racism at the university and criticise the institution’s (lack of) ways of handling it. Banners with questions about accessibility and the exclusivity of art school were unrolled along the facade, and posters with testimonials of people affected by racism were circulated.
The campaign published an open letter and a large coalition of student groups formulated demands to the university. These are still current.

Within the framework of »Interflugs 30: feral methods« the citizen's laboratory for audiovisual/transmedia creation and experimentation »Little Brother & Sister Are Watching You« presents for the first time 13 videos resulting from the 2nd phase of the laboratory, whose conceptual axis was developed around the generation of counter-bionecropolitics citizen actions.

The independent, citizen-based initiative »Little Brother & Sister Are Watching You« originated in Colombia in response to the unprecedented phenomenon of documentation and citizen action through simultaneous massive social mobilisations in digital media that took place around the world in 2019. The laboratory seeks to promote appropriation and critical awareness of the use of audiovisual technologies as both creative and participatory tools for resistance and community protection.
In the framework of the global phenomenon of ›quarantine‹, the 2nd phase of the laboratory was carried out through virtual spaces, giving continuity to a place of participation and citizen action by means of a common collaborative axis: laboratory sessions that took place twice a week between March and October 2020. In live sessions filmmakers, guests and spectators enter into a dialogue around the audiovisuals developed in the laboratory: (TELESCRíN), and MA. S.A. Manifestación Social Audiovisual (Audiovisual Social Protest), an open and collaborative civic practice for the realization of public actions of audiovisual demonstration, through video-mapping intervening in a critical way monuments and spaces of memory.

In addition, within the framework of the laboratory, a citizen documentary process is currently being developed around the case of Dilan Cruz, a young man who was murdered in Bogotá by the ESMAD (Mobile Anti-Riot Squad) on 23 November 2019 in the midst of the massive social demonstrations in that month. This event has become a social symbol in Colombia against the defence of the right to social demonstration and against the use of legal and illegal lethal weapons by the public forces. »Little Brother & Sister Are Watching You« is organized by Videocratica (El Kruce and Kunstrial e.V.) and the community of Little Brothers & Sisters who have joined forces over the past few months.

El laboratorio ciudadano de creación y experimentación audiovisual/transmedia organizado por Videocratica (El Kruce y Kunstrial e.V.) y la comunidad de Little Brothers & Sisters, Colombia, presenta por primera vez 13 videos resultantes de la 2da fase del laboratorio, cuyo eje conceptual se desarrolló en torno a la generación de acciones ciudadanas de contra-bionecopolítica.
"Little Brother & Sister Are Watching You", es un laboratorio ciudadano de creación y experimentación audiovisual/transmedia originado en Colombia en respuesta al fenómeno sin precedentes de documentación y acción ciudadana a través de medios digitales simultánea y masiva en las multitudinarias movilizaciones sociales que en 2019 se tomaron las calles del mundo. El laboratorio busca fomentar la apropiación y conciencia crítica frente al uso de las tecnologías audiovisuales como herramientas tanto creativas y participativas como de resistencia y protección comunitaria.
En el marco del fenómeno global de «cuarentena», la 2da fase del laboratorio, se llevó a cabo a través de espacios virtuales, dando continuidad a un lugar de participación y acción ciudadana por medio de un eje común colaborativo: sesiones de laboratorio que se realizaron dos veces por semana entre marzo y octubre de 2020, sesiones en vivo en las que lxs realizadorxs, invitadxs y espectadoxs entran en diálogo alrededor de los audiovisuales desarrollados en el laboratorio (TELESCRíN), y MA.S.A. Manifestación Social Audiovisual (Audiovisual Social Protest), práctica ciudadana abierta y colaborativa para la realización de acciones públicas de manifestación audiovisual, a través del video-mapping interviniendo de manera crítica monumentos y espacios de memoria.
Otras acciones del laboratorio:
Adicionalmente en el marco del laboratorio se desarrolla actualmente un proceso documental ciudadano alrededor del caso de Dilan Cruz, joven asesinado en Bogotá por el ESMAD (Escuadrón Móvil Antidisturbios) el pasado 23 de noviembre de 2019 en medio de las multitudinarias manifestaciones sociales del mes de noviembre y que ha sido un símbolo social en Colombia frente a la defensa del derecho a la manifestación social y contra el uso de armas letales legales e ilegales por parte de la fuerza pública. Estreno: 7 de Marzo de 2021, Memorial Dilan Cruz Bogotá.
“Little Brother & Sister Are Watching You” es una iniciativa independiente y ciudadana organizada por Videocrática (El Kruce y Kunstrial e.V.) y la comunidad de Little Brothers & Sisters que se han ido sumando a lo largo de estos meses.

Die bundesdeutschen Hochschulen befinden sich im Ausstand. Seit Anfang Dezember protestieren und streiken nahezu überall in der BRD und in Westberlin die Student:innen und inzwischen auch die Schüler:innen.
Universitäten und Hochschulen, deren Curriculae auf die Nutzungsinteressen der Regierung und der Wirtschaft abgestimmt sind, in denen kritische Professor:innen entlassen werden, können keine Möglichkeiten mehr für eine fundierte Ausbildung bieten. Im Rahmen des Streiks an den Berliner Hochschulen wurde von Student:innen der Freien Universität, der Technischen Universität und der Hochschule der Künste eine “Video-Streik-Zeitung” ins Leben gerufen, die täglich über Neuigkeiten, Aktionen und Situation an den Hochschulen und Schulen berichtet. Ausgehend von dem von der Video-Zeitung erarbeiteten Material hat die AG Öffentlichkeit Ausland dieses Video mit Stand vom 24.12.88 konzipiert. Die Grundidee war es, eine adäquate Informationsmöglichkeit für die ausländischen Hochschulen zu schaffen. Das Band wurde daher in Englisch, Italienisch, Französisch, Spanisch und Russisch übersetzt. The German universities are on strike. Since the beginning of December, students and, in the meantime, pupils have been protesting and striking almost everywhere in the FRG and in West Berlin. Universities and colleges whose studycourses become aligned with the utilization interests of the government and its economy, whose critical professors get dismissed, can no longer offer opportunities for a proper education.
As part of the strike at Berlin's universities, a video strike newspaper was created by students at Freie Universität, Technische Universität and Hochschule der Künste, which provides daily reports on news, actions and the situation at the universities and schools. Based on the material produced by the video-newspaper, the AG Öffentlichkeit Ausland designed this video as of 12/24/88. The basic idea was to create a possibility for adequate information for the foreign universities. The tape was therefore translated into English, Italian, French, Spanish and Russian.

A filmic collage of documentary material from past generations of strikes and interviews with those involved at the time. What were and are the reasons for protest and strike at the HdK/UdK? What was the situation in 1988/89 out of which the student organization Interflugs was founded? The half-hour documentary combines the historical with the current - the protests of students during the 2009 end of year show.

ENG: The Temporary Institute began as part of the Academy of Refusal - an occupation at the Art Academy in Vienna in October 2009 that was part of the “Unibrennt” university occupation movement. The Institute was part of an attempt at an oppositional urban university/union; the flipside to glossy ads, brochures and marketing campaigns, a manifestation of the unseen spectral labour that flows through, creates and gives value to any social institution. It is this ghost that is collectively able to learn, to organize and to act.
DEU: Das Temporäre Institut entstand im Rahmen der Academy of Refusal - einer Besetzung der Kunstakademie in Wien im Oktober 2009, die Teil der Hochschulbesetzungsbewegung "Unibrennt" war. Das Institut war Teil des Versuchs einer oppositionellen urbanen Universität/Gewerkschaft; die Kehrseite von Hochglanzanzeigen, Broschüren und Marketingkampagnen; eine Manifestation der unsichtbaren gespenstischen Arbeit, die durch jede soziale Institution fließt, sie erschafft und ihr einen Wert verleiht; und es ist dieser Geist, der kollektiv in der Lage ist zu lernen, zu organisieren und zu handeln.

Club Splendida

Club Splendida is an experimental science fiction webseries from 2019. It was born from years worth of experience at Interflugs, and reflects many of the central questions and motives of this time: plenary, rotation, work ethics, bureaucracy, friendship, conflict, and attempts at making the world a slightly better place.
We are happy to present it in the frame of "feral methods", which shares these questions and desires!
A lot of inspiration for Club Splendida has also come from Jo Freeman’s seminal 1970 essay "The Tyranny of Structurelessness"
Synopsis:
Planet Earth is on the verge of a nervous breakdown and a crew of five friends decide to build their own spaceship out of there. On a quest to search for Club Splendida, a rumoured utopia in the depths of outer space, the team hopes to find “the answer to life, the universe, and everything”. Soon they find out the biggest challenges are on their way and not what they expect.

Der Planet Erde steht kurz vor einem Nervenzusammenbruch und eine Crew aus fünf Freunden beschließt, ihn mit ihrem selbst gebauten Raumschiff zu verlassen. Auf der Suche nach Club Splendida, einer vermeintlichen Utopie in den Tiefen des Weltraums, hofft das Team, "die Antwort auf das Leben, das Universum und alles" zu finden. Schon bald erkennen sie, dass die größten Herausforderungen noch bevorstehen und ganz anders sind als erwartet.

Bereits das 20jährige Jubiläum des Interflugs ASV stellte die damaligen Tutor:innen der selbstorganisierten Studierendenorganisation an der Universität der Künste Berlin vor die große Aufgabe das ebenso selbstorganisierte Archivmaterial zu suchen, zu sichten und zu verstehen. Mantrisch bis manisch kommuniziert die Gruppe mit der selbst versäumten Vergangenheit. Dieses dystopische Hörspiel ist Rekonstruktion einer Monate andauernden Arbeit, eine Momentaufnahme des daily life unserer Anti-Institution in der Institution und nebenbei ein kleiner Friction-Fiction Trip für Freundinnen und Freunde.

Guided tour through an archive of self-organization

Already the 20th anniversary of Interflugs ASV presented the then tutors of the self-organised student collective at the Berlin University of the Arts with the great task of searching, sifting and understanding the equally self-organised archive material. Mantrically to manically, the group communicates with the self-missed past. This dystopian radio play is a reconstruction of months of work, a snapshot of the daily life of our anti-institution within the institution, and incidentally a little friction fiction trip for friends.
